This was such a tricky one for me because I tend to dislike most polarising books. I did after a good look through my read list manage to find 5 books for the list. Some of them I only gave 3 stars to so it’s not that I adored them or that they are my favourites they have made it simply because I enjoyed them where I know a lot of others perhaps don’t.
I really enjoyed this series it was just really light and fluffy and a good between book when I had been reading a lot of heavier genres. I didn’t like The Elite as much and I DNF-ed The One, I feel like it could all have been squished into one book. I feel this book get a lot of flack but for the first book at least I really enjoyed it.
On Booktube and the book blogs I follow people either don’t get it/don’t like it or they love it. I am a big Neil Gaiman fan and have been for about 10 years; this isn’t my favourite Gaiman novel but I did really enjoy it and it was a solid 4 stars for me.
This is another one where the community seems to either love it or they don’t and find it boring. I adored this book. I think it accurately captured my experience with high school (being a wallflower who found a good group of “misfits” myself). I don’t usually like books written as letters so I can understand why others might have disliked it for this but I think it worked for this book.
I don’t know if this counts but I feel like this book gets quite a bit of flack compared to Anna & the French Kiss and in my opinion Lola was much better than the first book. I didn’t appreciate the characters or the situations in Anna and even though I had some issues with Lola I thought it was a lot less problematic.
I actually haven’t heard that many people talk about this book but what I have seen this book seems to split people into two camps. I enjoyed this book for what it was, a creepy, weird, physcological thriller. It really made me think about how easy it is for people to get away with certain things now especially with today’s technology. I love a book that gets me thinking so this was a winner for me.
